Students will build elaborate objects, structures and vehicles, while exploring fundamental principles of engineering and physics.

BAM Theatre this Fall! - Sept. 19

BAM Theatre's After School Enrichment Program, featuring "Hits of the Little Mermaid," is coming to Monroe this fall!

Classes are on Tuesdays, starting September 19!

This theatre class is the perfect theatre experience for elementary school performers! Throughout the program, students will study the foundations of musical theatre (singing, acting, and dancing), and also rehearse a small showcase presentation which will feature a medley of songs from the musical THE LITTLE MERMAID!

Monroe Parent's Bowling League! - Sign up by Sept. 15

We are finalizing bowling teams for the Monroe Bowling League which takes place the second Friday of every month fro October through April at Suburbanite Bowl in Westmont. Each team should have 3-4 couples.

It is a fun adults-only night out and a great way to meet other Monroe couples. You do not need to be good at bowling to join - it is just for fun!

Author Visit & Signed Books - Sept. 20

New York Times Best selling author, Patricia C. Wrede, is coming to Monroe to speak to our 3rd-5th graders on September 20th.

Her new fantasy is titled, "The Dark Lord's Daughter." Is Kayla destined for darkness or can she be a new kind of Dark Lady?


These author visits are free to our school for hosting a book fair. However, there is a minimum purchase of 30 books. If sales are not met, the library must pay for the additional cost.

2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders are invited to come for fun and to… complete upcycling craft projects. Play games that teach about the environment. Explore the Living Classroom. Learn how to take better care of Monroe and our Earth.

Meetings will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of the Month:

We meet from 3:05-4:00 p.m. in Room 126 (Mrs. Schuppert’s Classroom).

The Community Speaker Series 2023-24 Season

The Community Speaker Series promotes district wide learning about education, child development, wellness and parenting. It is open and free to all members of the K- 12 learning community. The intention of the series is to encourage proactive parenting that supports children’s and adolescents’ social and emotional development as well as their academic achievement. Through the series, D86 and D181 enlist top experts to inform and inspire our community as a means to enrich school-family partnership that supports the education of our students.

We are looking for parents and community members to volunteer on our committee. If you are interested in helping identify speakers for future seasons and becoming more involved, please contact Dana Martin for details (dfiordalisomartin@gmail.com).

You can filter the directory by grade, teacher or even search by name. This is a great tool when looking to contact your child's classmate's families for homework questions, playdates scheduling and birthday party invites. It is a great resource to keep our Monroe community connected!

Bike Rodeo - Thank you!

Thanks to all the students and families who attended the Bike Rodeo this week! It was educational and fun for our students to learn safety and responsibility while riding their bikes to and from school.

Thanks to Corie Werich and the Bike Rodeo team for working so hard to chair the event, and the Hinsdale Police Department for their supervision and expertise!

If you missed the Bike Rodeo, you can always bring your bike to the Hinsdale PD to get it registered in their system. Be safe, Mustangs!

We'd like to thank everyone who attended our Backyard Bash this past weekend. It was a fun event with a lot of old college-day shenanigans!

We'd also like to give a special shout out to our host families: Blasko, Erwin, Haarlow, Kunitz, Martin, Massouras, Reko, Schieber, Thorpe, and Wright. This event raised over $4,000 for Monroe School! We appreciate everyone's support in getting our fundraising year off to a great start!

Stay tuned for more details about upcoming fundraising opportunities, like hosting a student or parent party as well as our raffle for various school experiences, like Halloween line leaders, PE teacher for the day, and riding to school in a police car!

Bike Rodeo - Wednesday 9/6

The Bike Rodeo is scheduled for Wednesday, September 6th at 3:10 p.m. on school grounds (it could take as long as 90 minutes, depending on participation). The event is open to students in 3rd grade, and any new students to the school that are between 3rd and 5th grade. Students must have their own bicycle helmet to participate in the event.

Please complete and print the Bike Registration Form in advance of event (link below). Students should watch the two videos (links below).

There's still time to purchase tickets to this year's Backyard Bash event! This college-theme, parent-only event will take place on September 9th starting at 5pm. Come hang out with fellow Monroe parents while also raising money for our school, staff, and students! 100% of the proceeds go to the school.
