Book Donation Andrea's Angels

Earn free books with Andrea's Angels: The Andrea's Angels program is a new & gently-used, year-round book drive named in loving memory of a local student who volunteered for children's literacy programs.

Since 1999, Anderson's Bookshop has been helping to continue the spirit of Andrea's work and love of books. By coordinating the collection & redistribution of over 1,000,000 books, the Andrea's Angels program has been able to place books with children who have never known the joy of owning their own book. For each book donated, students will receive a raffle ticket to be entered into our drawing for $10 off at the book fair. 20 prizes will be awarded.

You can drop your books off in the Monroe School foyer beginning September 16th - 20th. Names will be drawn at the end of day September 20th.

Golf Available for After School Enrichment

Due to high demand, we were able to add one more golf class to the after school enrichment schedule! Please note, this class will be held outside. The new date will be on TUESDAYS from 3:05 - 4:15 and will run from SEPT 17TH- NOV 19TH (NO GOLF 11/5) for a total of 9 weeks. There are a few spots remaining!

The Monroe Chess Club is Back! All new Lessons, Games, Worksheets, and Tournaments!

All students are invited to try the first meeting for free, and chess club members are encouraged to bring a friend or two. Beginners Welcome! (No prior knowledge of chess is required)

The class is run by Illinois Chess Teachers and will be on Tuesdays from 3:05pm to 4:15pm on the below dates:
- 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/29, 11/12, 11/19, 12/10, 12/17
- *No Chess Tues. 10/22 and 12/3 Tournament Day

Do you like to bowl? Are you looking for a new social outlet? Just want to get away from the kiddos for an evening of adult fun? The Monroe Parents Bowling League may just be the answer! The league is open to any Monroe parents and meets at Suburbanite Bowl on the second Friday of each month, October - April.

• Team size of 6 is recommended. Some teams bowl with 4 and others have 8 to ensure the team is available to bowl each month.
• Teams are responsible for securing subs to ensure their team bowls each month. A sub list will be provided.
• No experience needed! It’s just for fun!!
• Cost is $96/person for the season

Bike Rodeo for 3rd Grade & New-to-Monroe 4th & 5th Graders - Thursday, September 12

This year’s Bike Rodeo (meant for 3rd Graders and new-to-Monroe 4th & 5th Graders who may ride their bikes to school) will be held on Thursday, September 12 at 3:05 pm on the blacktop by the playground! The event should last about 90 minutes.

Students must bring their own bikes and helmets and the attached completed Bike Registration Form.

MONROE MOVIE NIGHT - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH

Coming soon...Monroe Movie Night! Mark your calendars for Friday, September 20th, beginning at 5:00pm!

Monroe's first movie night is sure to be a fun way to spend a beautiful fall Friday night. This FREE event will include the book fair, tacos and pizza to purchase for dinner, music, popcorn, and candy concessions - all to be followed by a movie (7pm) on the big screen in the bowl! The kids will vote in school on the movie we watch the week of September 9th! Please note - all children must have adult supervision.

So, pack up your blankets and beach chairs. We can't wait to see you then!
