Bike Rodeo (3rd Grade & new 4th/5th Graders)

This annual bicycle safety event is open to all Monroe students in 3rd grade, and any new students to the school that are in 4th and 5th grade. Students must have their own bicycle helmet to participate in the event. For the safety of all participants, E-Bikes (or any other electric devices) are not allowed on the bike safety course.

CHANGES FOR 2026: Students are encouraged to wear backpacks during the course.  This changes their balance, and is good practice.  If a student is not stable, we will have them remove the backpack, and make a note on the sheet for parents to work with their child on biking with their backpack.  

Monroe students will complete a bike safety course provided by the Hinsdale Police Department, go over the traffic signs, arm signals and safety rules, along with a quiz. Following successful completion of both, students will receive their "Bike License" registered with the Village of Hinsdale. 

King Keyser will be onsite to assist with equipment needs, including bike tire pressure.
