Mark your calendars! Family Fun Fest will be back on May 17th, 2024. Thanks to Becky Bacogiannis, Ellen Dunlap, Catey White and Diem Tom for stepping up to chair this event. We couldn't do this without the amazing committee of volunteers who have signed up already, as well. Everything the PTO does is thanks to parents giving their time and talent. Thank you all!

Homework Helpers and Reading Ambassadors at the Hinsdale Public Library

EVERY Tuesday and Thursday, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Teen Lounge

Getting homework help from a high school student is fun! Students K-8 can drop in during our Homework Helpers and Reading Ambassadors sessions to receive help from a local high school student. HPL's High School Homework Helpers and Reading Ambassadors can help with homework and read with younger students. 

Parents will sign in their students and find an available volunteer at one of our designated tables. Homework Helpers and Reading Ambassadors are fun, free and available on a drop-in basis every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.

DuPage Children's Museum Event is THIS Wednesday 11/15!

The DuPage Children's Museum Event is this Wednesday, November 15th from 4:30 - 7:30 pm!! 

The event is now open to Kindergartners, 1st Graders and 2nd Graders (and their siblings)! 

Purchase your tickets NOW to explore all that the DuPage Children's Museum has to offer in this private event! 

Price is $30/child. Adult supervision is required, but adults are FREE. Pizza and drinks included! All proceeds benefit the PTO.

To keep this loved tradition alive, we need our Monroe parent community to help. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the actual Science Fair for 2024 due to lack of parent involvement, and we do not want that to happen to Family Fun Fest! (don't fret- our season of science will still go on with some amazing plans!).

The DJ has been booked, the rides have been secured! A lot of the leg work has been done already.

Enrichment will be back at Monroe, the weeks of January 8th through March 15th. 

Full schedule and registration information should be ready next week; we will alert parents when it is live on the Monroe School PTO website.

Come join other Monroe families at a Chicago Wolves game on December 3rd at 3:00pm (doors open at 2:00pm). 

All attendees will receive a FREE Chicago Wolves knit hat and will be seated together. Tickets are $27 per person, and a portion of this price will be donated to a charity chosen by the members of the Monroe Kids Care Club (we will share which charity once votes are in!).

Andrea Beaty Author Visit - Monday Nov. 13th.

Andrea Beaty will be chatting with Kindergarten through 3rd grade about her newest book, "Lila Greer, Teacher of the Year" on Nov. 13th. 

You know her best for the Rosie Revere book series and new Netflix show, "Ada Twist, Scientist." This is an amazing opportunity for your child to learn from one of the best early elementary authors around.

We continue to ask for your support. A minimum of 30 books must be sold in order to pay for the author visit. Please consider purchasing multiple copies for gifts as the giving season approaches. See FLYER to purchase.

Candy Drive for a Good Cause - Monday and Tuesday

The Kids Care Club will host a Candy Drive before school on November 6 and November 7! 

Please drop off all that extra Halloween candy to our donation tables from 8:15am until school starts. One donation table will be located near the office, and the other will be located at the west side of school (Monroe Street side). 

All candy will be donated to Chicago Survivors - an organization that assists under resourced children who have recently lost a loved one. The candy will be distributed around the holidays to provide some much needed cheer. We hope to see you there!

Book Fair Success!

Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting this year's Book Fair and Andrea's Angels! Over 1,300 books were donated to children who do not have access to adequate reading material. Through your book fair purchases, we raised over $4,000 that will go directly to the library to update our fiction and non-fiction books.

We will be running a collection for Andrea's Angels in the spring, so please hold onto all those books for future donations.
