Donate your extra Halloween Candy for a great cause!

Looking to do something with your extra Halloween Candy? The Monroe Kids Care Club will hold a Candy Drive before school on Wednesday, November 6th and Thursday, November, 7th from 8:15am until 8:40am.

Please drop off your extra candy at one of our donation tables, located by the main office entrance/parking lot or behind the school near the Monroe Street entrances.

Candy will be donated to Chicago Survivors, an organization that assists under-resourced children who have recently lost a loved one. The candy will be distributed around the holidays to provide some much needed cheer. We hope to see you there!

Thank you so much for supporting the Fall Monroe Book Fair! We raised over $4,000 that will go directly into the library to provide new titles to fiction, non-fiction, and support the new science curriculum. Additional funds will be spent on making the library more accessible to all student learning through signage and displays. Our library program is a success because of your support.

Charleston Wrap Sale has Ended

Thank you to everyone who purchased items through our annual Charleston Wrap sale. We raised over $2,500 for the Monroe PTO to use towards events and curriculum enhancements like assemblies, the Living Garden, Science Fair, Culture Night, and others! Way to go, Mustangs!

The Monroe Green Club is Back! - Wednesday, October 23rd

The Monroe Green Club is open to all students in 2nd-5th grade who care about making Monroe and our Earth a more green and sustainable place to be!

Our theme this year is focused on water conservation and clean water awareness! We will have lots of fun learning, playing games, completing craft projects, using recycled materials, and so much more!

Our meeting dates are: 

• October 23, November 13* (previously listed as 11/20), December 18, January 29, February 26 and March 26.
• Wednesdays after school from 3:05pm-4:00pm in Mrs. Schuppert's classroom-126.

Upcoming Author Visits

Monroe has two author visits coming up!

Friday, October 25th - Lauren Magaziner will be here talking to 1st - 5th grade about her Mythics series. This book is on our Battle of the Books list and a great first chapter book for our younger students. If you purchased books at the Book Fair, please bring them back in for her to sign.

Wednesday, November 6th - Chris Grabenstein is coming to chat with us about his final Lemoncello book, The Fantabulous Finale! Many of you will remember him from our One Book, One School a couple of years ago. Order forms have been sent for autographed books. You may send in a check or pay through Skyward.
