Spring Book Fair is this week!

The Spring Book Fair starts this week. Each class will come down to fill out wish lists on M or T and purchase date are W-F. We will be open on Thursday evening from 6-7:30 during Fine Arts night. The Spring Book Fair kicks off the new award books, Battle of the Books titles, and summer reading for all grade levels. Check out our lists! Proceeds from the fair will go towards adding these books to the collection as we get ready for the 2024-2025 school year.

We are asking you to consider donating to your child's classroom library. Classroom libraries are not often updated without parent support unless the teacher purchases the books themselves. You may choose a book from a wish list or specify a dollar amount. Stacking the classroom libraries at every grade level benefits the entire school for years to come.

Andrea's Angels Book Collection

This week the Monroe library is accepting donations of gently used books to be donated to Andrea's Angels. All books are sent to lower income schools so we can get more books into the hands of children. Please consider cleaning out your shelves and sending these books into school. We are accepting donations until the 26th.

Spring has sprung and so have busy weekday nights! We know every family has a packed calendar, but the Monroe PTO invites you to join us for the 3rd and final PTO meeting of the year on Wednesday, April 24th at 7pm in the library.

Family Fun Fest: Purchase Your Tickets Today

Attention Monroe Families! Tickets for this year's Monroe Family Fun Fest are now available. Join us on Friday, May 17 from 5-8pm for food trucks, lots of entertainment and loads of family fun. This is a community event, open to all, so spread the word to your neighbors, friends and extended family. Wristbands are $15 if purchased in advance, $20 at the door. They will be distributed in your child's May 10 Friday folder or can be picked up onsite at the event if needed.

It’s the question on the minds of teenagers and their parents everywhere: how do colleges select their freshman class? For an entire admissions cycle, Selingo was embedded in three admissions offices and followed a group of high-school seniors through the process as well as players behind the scenes, including the marketers, the financial aid consultants, and the rankers. Selingo dispels the entrenched notions of how to compete and win at the admissions game, reveals why families have much to gain by broadening their notion of what qualifies as a “good” college, and explains how the Covid-19 pandemic will impact admissions in the long run.

Stuff the Squad Success

Thank you to the Monroe Community for supporting the Hinsdale Police Department and "Stuffing the Squad" this past Wednesday for HCS Family Services! This HCS program provides groceries to over 360 food insecure families at their pantries in Hinsdale and Willowbrook.

Office Karen Kowal of the Hinsdale PD shared that HCS is overwhelmingly thankful for all of the support, and their shelves are stocked very well thanks to D181 and this event! Thank you, Mustangs!
